Independent Data Center Energy & Infrastructure Advisory
I help owners, developers, and investors evaluate complex decisions involving power, cooling, resilience, water, heat recovery, and long-term energy strategy before major capital is committed.
I’m an energy and infrastructure advisor with nearly two decades of experience evaluating building systems, energy performance, and real operating data. My work combines engineering judgment, energy modeling, utility analysis, and business-focused decision support.
Today, my focus is helping data center owners and project teams make better infrastructure decisions. That includes reviewing cooling strategies, power constraints, backup generation, geothermal integration, water use, heat rejection, heat recovery, and operating cost impacts.
I’ve taught thousands of professionals, reviewed complex technical work, and served as an expert witness. Those experiences reinforced a simple point: the numbers only matter if decision-makers understand what they mean. Fassbender Energy Advisory exists to provide that clarity.
Where I Help Owners Make Better Decisions
Data center projects involve large capital decisions, fast-changing technology, and long-term operating consequences. I help owners pressure-test assumptions before those decisions become expensive.
Power constraints and utility uncertainty
Power availability often drives project feasibility. I help owners evaluate utility strategy, phased growth, and infrastructure tradeoffs.
Cooling strategies that affect everything else
Air cooling, liquid cooling, dry coolers, geothermal, and hybrid systems all carry different cost, reliability, water, and expansion implications.
Backup generation and fuel planning
Resilience decisions affect capital cost, site planning, operations, permitting, and long-term risk. I help owners evaluate the full picture.
Water consumption and permitting risk
Cooling choices can create water, sustainability, and community concerns. I help compare options that reduce exposure while maintaining performance.
Heat rejection and heat recovery
Rejected heat may become a liability or an opportunity. I help evaluate district energy, building heat, geothermal balancing, and other reuse strategies.
Engineering recommendations that need review
Owners need someone who can challenge assumptions, translate technical tradeoffs, and ask the questions that protect the project.
Operating costs hidden in early decisions
Infrastructure choices made early can lock in decades of energy, water, maintenance, and resilience costs.
A second set of eyes for owners
I work alongside owners and project teams to provide independent perspective before major decisions are finalized.
